The
Leadership Academy

Students are competitively selected from Alachua County public high schools to participate in a one-year, three-phase, scenario-based experiential Leadership Academy.  They must receive nominations from a high school teacher or administrator and complete benchmark assessments to chart their leadership growth throughout the year.

Through a partnership with community leaders who serve as facilitators and mentors, participants take a journey through self-discovery.  They explore their values, identify their "personal brand", understand the power of their influence, craft their leadership philosophies, and address real-world leadership challenges by leveraging the competencies they glean from the classroom.

Students are provided access to college prep workshops and tours, while they're also partnered with mentors from the Department of State and the White House to local organizations.  Program graduates earn the distinction of "Elite Leader", and qualify to compete for one of the two $1000 leadership scholarships, and letters of recommendation to the colleges of their choice.
